Sustainable : Sparking Understanding of SDGs through AI and Novel Approaches in Balanced Learning Environments

- Students at Aristotelio participated in a week of activities focused on the Global Goals, exploring the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Their experience began with the “UN Sustainable Development Goals – Overview” video, sparking discussions on which goals resonated most. They also engaged with a comic book illustrating the SDGs and took part in an interactive quiz to discover their personal connection to the goals. Fun SDG-themed pets were given, enhancing this engaging learning experience.

2. The students from Greece introduced themselves in the first forum discussion and expressed their expectations for this project in the second forum discussion

3. Using Perplexity, the students identified numerous issues within the Greek education system. They highlighted the most significant problems and then recorded them on public Google slides in their native language.

4. On the occasion of the European Code Week, the students of Aristotle College created projects on the Tinkercad platform focused on energy saving. As a “smart” school, the students tried to simulate the smart functions of the school by designing projects that incorporate coding. Through these projects, they highlighted the potential of technology to assist in sustainable energy management, while also contributing to the creation of a more environmentally friendly space.

5. Dear Colleagues, today’s online meeting was fantastic! It was wonderful to reconnect, strengthen our collaboration, and take a moment to see each other. Getting to know everyone better was both exciting and inspiring, and the positive energy both in the group and the students, made the experience truly enjoyable. Working with such a dedicated team is incredibly motivating, and the meeting made me even more excited about the progress we’re making together. Looking forward to the journey ahead!

6. This month, our students embarked on a meaningful journey, exploring SDG 16 through an engaging video that introduced the importance of peace, justice, and strong institutions. After watching, we took time to reflect on our initial emotions and impressions, capturing our thoughts in a collaborative discussion. As part of the process, we answered thought-provoking questions and identified the most impactful words, which we displayed on the board and transformed into a creative word cloud.

7. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with health and joy! As part of our eTwinning project, the children created beautiful Christmas cards, each carrying heartfelt wishes inspired by the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Every card is a small message of hope and optimism for a fairer and more sustainable world. Their wishes touch on themes such as peace, equality, and environmental protection, spreading the spirit of the season while promoting meaningful change.

8. The students participated in an educational activity aimed at raising awareness about people with disabilities. Firstly, they watched a YouTube video that helped them understand the daily challenges faced by individuals with visual impairments. Then, they used the PICTOBLOX application to create an interactive game. In the game, a blind pedestrian must safely cross a street by following the sound of the traffic light.

9. As Aristotelio students participating in the eTwinning project, we were thrilled to contribute to the collaborative activity for International Mind-Body Wellness Day by creating our digital illustrated story. Using Canva’s Magic AI tool, we crafted a narrative about the role of AI in enhancing health and well-being in everyday life. Our story featured innovative ideas, such as fitness-tracking robots, AI-powered health apps, and tools designed to improve quality of life.

10. Aristotelio students were full of enthusiasm during our online meeting for the Sustainable e-Twinning project! Connecting with peers from other countries and working together on the 3rd SDG, “Well-being at School,” was an amazing experience. The Kahoot quiz made learning fun and engaging, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration. A huge thanks to all my colleagues who always create such a positive atmosphere, making these moments so special!

11. For Safer Internet Day 2025, we created a poster with the help of the digital tool Canva to raise awareness about online safety. The students in our class worked together to design the poster, emphasizing the importance of staying safe while navigating the digital world. We discussed key topics such as protecting personal information, avoiding cyberbullying, and promoting positive online behavior. This activity helped the students understand how to make the internet a safer place for everyone.

12. To celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (February 11th), we discussed the invaluable contributions of women not only in science but also in society as a whole. We then watched a video about Goal 5 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which focuses on gender equality, and reflected on its importance in both the scientific community and everyday life.

13. This month, the students explored SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). Through engaging videos, they became more aware of the importance of clean water and environmental protection. Working in teams, they created questions and answers related to clean water. With the help of our project partner, they gathered useful information and developed a fun Kahoot game titled Clean Water. At the end of the day, we played the quiz together. It was a creative and meaningful way for students to deepen their knowledge while enjoying teamwork and learning.

14. This month, we explored inspiring videos and used them as a spark to create a series of powerful images centered around Earth Day. Through this creative journey, our students became more aware and deeply moved by the realities of our planet’s environmental issue, especially the urgent challenge of climate change.

15. Using Google Earth’s “The World’s Oceans” feature, we began a fascinating journey beneath the surface — exploring breathtaking underwater ecosystems from around the globe. We were amazed by how rich, diverse, and beautiful marine life is… but also how incredibly fragile. Then, we watched two inspiring videos that helped us dive deeper into the importance of Life Below Water, which is the focus of Sustainable Development Goal 14.
